Dry Flies are traditionally fished on the surface of the water. It should be noted however that at certain times and under particular conditions the original definition is thrown out of the window!
They are often designed to imitate aquatic insects which, through the process of metamorphosis, have just hatched, are about to hatch or those that are laying their eggs on the water. They can also imitate mature insects which have died and those that unintentionally have landed on water (a classic example of this would be the daddy long legs).
With so many different fly patterns to choose from you'll have no problem finding the right one you need. Wherever you are planning to fish, no matter what time of the year, whatever conditions you will be fishing there's hundreds of hot patterns you can buy and try.
