Wet flies, as the name suggests are those that fish below the waters surface. The modern day flyfisherman who uses wet flies will likely be miles apart from the traditional wet fly fisherman. His fly box or wallet will be full of patterns that the purist would dismiss as unsporting, unrealistic and has no place by the waterside.
The modern fly patterns however work just as well as traditional ones. With the addition of beads, tinsels and synthetic materials the fly is enhanced, and has a little more attractiveness to a Salmon or Trout.
If you are fishing a team of three flies then you could do no worse than mix old with new. Weighted flies such as those with beads can be the point fly and those with tinsel or brightly coloured floss as the bob fly.
With so many different fly patterns to choose from you'll have no problem finding the right one you need. Wherever you are planning to fish, no matter what time of the year, whatever conditions you will be fishing there's hundreds of hot patterns you can buy and try.
